It’s a quiet night
The moon is rising to the east as the sun sets in the west
The kids get tucked in bed
The birds settle in their nest
It’s a lovely night
The smell of sap, mud and wood fill the air,
signaling the change of a season is near
It’s a peaceful night
I walk slowly as my dog sniffs happily on the neighbors tree
It’s a gentle night
A man walks by with his dog.
He smiles and says “ what a nice night”. I reply: “indeed, what a pleasant night”.
It’s a magical night
I pause as I reach my favorite pine trees and look up to see
Stars emerging through the darkness, dotting the sky with light
What a sight
It’s a simple night
Tugging impatiently, my dog signals he wants to pee on that tree
I sign and smile at him lovingly
And continue on our journey
